MANAGEMENT 101 FOR NEW MANAGERS (3 DAYS)

PURPOSE

To build a common language and have participants share a common framework in viewing their roles and accountabilities as the first line management. To build core skills and align them to the management competencies identified by the management.

OBJECTIVES AND OUTCOMES

At the end of the three day workshop, participants will:

  • Feel inspired and embrace their role and accountabilities as first line managers
  • Accept the need to change behaviors as they transit from professional roles to leading and managing teams
  • Have analyzed their values, attitudes, assumptions and beliefs when taking on leadership and management challenges
  • Have identified strengths to leverage on and addressed weaknesses in a constructive manner
  • Own and develop Personal Action Plans to:
  • continuously learn and enhance their skills and
  • improve an aspect of team performance

METHODOLOGY

The workshop will be highly interactive, facilitating participants’ learning through discussions, experiential exercises; case examples, video clips and skills practice role plays.

Prior to the workshop, participants will be required to undertake:

  • An e-training needs analysis. Information gathered will be used to develop the detailed agenda of the workshop
  • Relevant reading assignment
  • Completion and self scoring of a Leadership/Management competency questionnaire aimed at promoting self knowledge
